Just eight blocks from our New York luxury hotel, Radio City Music Hall is one of the most widely-recognized New York landmarks, with its signature marquee stretching an entire city block. Following the stock market crash in 1929, plans fell through to build a new Metropolitan Opera House on a piece of Midtown property owned by John D. Rockefeller. This land was turned into an expansive complex now known as Rockefeller Center.

One of Rockefeller Center's 19 renowned buildings, Radio City Music Hall New York was designed by architect Donald Deskey who envisioned an elegant and distinctive venue created in the American Modernist style. Opened in 1932 to rave reviews, the Music Hall became popular for its feature film and live show combination format and has opened more than 700 movies since 1933.

Significant features of the 5,900-seat Music Hall, the largest indoor theatre in the world, include: the largest stage curtain in the world, a proscenium arch on the Great Stage measuring 60 feet high and 100 feet wide, an innovative hydraulic elevator system for special effects, and the "Mighty Wurlitzer" organ with pipes housed in eleven different rooms.

Each year more than a million visitors have made it a holiday past time to attend the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, featuring the world-famous Radio City Rockettes. This eight-week show has seen wide-spread success since its debut in 1933. Notable numbers include "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers", "New York at Christmas" and the "Living Nativity".
